Family, Children and Baby Portrait Photography in Scotland
Your family means a lot to you and they grow up so fast. Why not capture those memories by getting a professional portrait taken that will be treasured for years to come. I capture moments in time, moments that only happen once. Having two young children myself, I know how often you wonder where the time has gone, the moments that have became memories and the wish that you could have those memories again. That's what I try to do - to capture a glance, a look or an expression that tells a story
I provide a bespoke family portrait service that can be carried out indoors or outdoors at a location of your choice. Whether you want the modern contemporary "High Key" (or white background) look, a fun outdoor look or something a bit different, various styles are catered for. The sessions are very relaxed and generally last between 30 minutes and an hour. Longer sessions are available, just ask! If you want to do a location shoot, this will involve some extra time for travel and to set up the kit. Note that depending on the distance to your location the session fee may cost slightly more - we can discuss this at time of booking.
I have introduced a smaller "Mini-Session" which is a shorter portrait session and for those who want a smaller shoot with just a few images. See the photography prices page for full details.
FAQ's
How do I book a session?
To book a session or check availability contact me by phone on 07738 870645 or via the contact form on the contact Iain King Photography page. If by phone we can have a discussion about what you are looking for and book a date there and then. Session fees (from £45) are payable at time of booking. Payments can be made by major credit/debit cards detailed on the right. Please note that the session fee is non refundable if the session is cancelled within the 24 hour period prior to the session.
What happens in a home based session?
A session normally goes a bit like this:
- I will arrive at the allotted time
- After an initial conversation about what to expect and getting an idea of what you want, I will spend about 15 minutes setting the lights and background up.
- For the next 30 - 40 minutes I will go through a number of poses taking into consideration what you are looking for. During the shoot you may want to change outfits. The aim is to make this as relaxing and fun as we can.
- Once completed I will tidy up all of the equipment.
- At this point I will sit down and discuss what happens next.
When can we see our images?
Normally within a week of the actual photography session. The quickest way for you to see your images is through a custom web gallery built specifically for you. Your images will appear in the web gallery in a password protected area which you only you can access. If you do not have internet access I can arrange to get a proof DVD to you which you can watch on your TV in the comfort of your own home.
How long will we have to wait on our photos once ordered?
Generally once ordered, I aim to have your photos delivered to your home within 2 weeks. If you require a faster service then please talk to me beforehand and we can discuss the options. Please note that there may be an additional charge for this.
Can we get our images on a DVD?
Unlike many photographers, I can provide a DVD containing a number of the images from the session at a cost. The cost of the DVD reflects the work in producing the images for print. Note - that the use of these images on this DVD will be for personal printing use only.
What will I wear?
For this type of picture I recommend casual clothing, something you feel relaxed in. Colours that work best include blues, greens, reds and whites. You may even want to wear something related to your favourite hobby or sport! You can bring a change of outfits, but due to the time of a session the maximum number of outfits I would recommend is 2 - if you want a longer session with more outfits talk to me at time of booking.
I would like a home session but I'm not sure I have space in my home to take pictures, how much space do you need to take photographs?
An average size living room can be used to take a number of different shots, mostly head/shoulder and 3/4 length shots. Groups shots will be limited by the size of the room, but generally I can try to squeeze in 4 people into a shot. If you have any concerns then please contact me - I'm happy to discuss any alternative arrangements. In the event that we find that space is an issue we can arrange another session at suitable location at no extra cost.
How many photos will you take?
Depending on the session it could vary from 50 to over 100. Out of all the photos taken, I will show you the best. Depending on the number of shots taken you can expect to be shown a minimum of 20 prints.
I don't want to purchase pictures in a frame, can I purchase the prints only?
Yes, you can purchase prints for use in your own frames. See the photography prices page for details of print only packages.
